Emily Buehler, Junior Opposite, University of St. Thomas, Mazeppa, MN (Zumbrota-Mazeppa High School). Gene McGivern, SID. To often in team athletics, fans do not see the "big picture." Regarding the success of UST Volleyball, this is very much the case. Emily Buehler is a necessary impact player that delivers time and time again. This past week is, fortunately for the Tommies, a "typical" week. In four matches including another crucial MIAC road contest, Emily put down 81 kills (5.8 KPG) while hitting .452 for the week. In addition, her contributions included 48 digs (3.4 DPG), 7 service aces (.50 SAPG) and 10 total blocks (.71 BPG) leading the Tommies to a 4-0 record for the week, and winning UST's third Tournament Championship this fall. Facing the challenge of learning a new position due to injuries earlier in the season, Emily Buehler had another outstanding week. Thanks.

Set/Def

Jane Gibbs, Junior Setter, University of St. Thomas, Lakeville High School (MN). Eugene McGivern, SID. Having competed against over fifteen teams that were nationally and/or regionally ranked, Jane Gibbs remains one of the best setters in the country. This past weekend, Gibbs lead the Tommies to a 4-0 record, the team's third outright tournament championship, a huge MIAC road match victory, and was named to her 4th All Tournament team this season. Her numbers included 225 Assists (16 APG), 49 digs (3.5 DPG), 6 service aces (.43 SAPG), and most importantly, runs an offense where the team hit over .300 for the week. There is no greater endorsement for a team's setter than the success of her teammates. Thanks.

For the week Kristin recorded 106 digs for an average of 5.05 digs/game while only recording 2 reception errors in five matches. This included a 25 dig performance versus OshKosh and a 24 dig performance versus St. Ben's. Kristin is a primary passer in all six rotations. As there are not many statistical categories for a libero to be evaluated, one anecdotal piece of support for Kristin was that the coach from UW-OshKosh said that their only serving call for our whole match was to "NOT serve Bethel's libero!"
