Majors and Minors in English |
Each major must choose one of four specializations for the English major. English majors may not choose another English specialization as a second major or a minor.
Although they overlap in many ways, the English Literature major emphasizes the study of literature; the English Writing major stresses professional writing in a variety of modes; the English Education major combines the study of English and communication arts with secondary education certification; and the English Print Journalism major prepares students for successful careers in journalism.
Besides committing themselves to the English Department Goals and Objectives, English majors take classes that meet the following specific graduation requirements. A checklist of requirements for each major is included at the following links.
While minors are encouraged to choose their distribution courses and electives with their career plans in mind, they are not required to submit their course plans in contract.
